Williamson’s Best 2022 FAQ

1. What is The Guide to Williamson’s Best awards? 

Williamson Home Page wants to celebrate the top businesses, people, places and more in our community with a tribute to the best of them. Readers will weigh in by nominating their favorite businesses beginning in January. The top businesses in each category will be voted on in February to see who will take the crown! The winners will be announced in April and then recognized on our digital news site and in the April 2022 magazine issue of the Home Page Guide to Williamson County.  

2. How do you determine Williamson’s Best winners for the readers’ poll? 

We don’t! Our readers vote for their favorites in more than 100 categories through our online ballot via write-in submissions during the nominations phase. Then they vote again to crown the top three finalists during our voting round. We’ll also release our editorial team’s Writers’ Choice picks in each year’s issue — those are selected by our expert editorial department, based on what most impressed them in Williamson County over the course of the year.  

3. When do nominations begin and end? 

Voting starts Jan. 20, 2022, at 7 a.m. CST and ends Feb. 11, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. CST.   

4. When does voting begin and end? 

Voting starts Feb. 21, 2022, at 7 a.m. CST and ends March 11, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. CST.   

5. How many times can I nominate or vote for a business?   

You can only submit one NOMINATION per category, and you can go back and change your nomination (if you are logged in) until the nomination phase is over. You’ll then be able to cast one VOTE during the voting phase and select your choice of a finalist per category. We encourage nominating/voting in several categories to show local love to all your favorite WillCo business, people, places and things.  

6. Do businesses have to pay to get on the ballot?  

No way! It is 100 percent free to participate. We do have options to give your business more exposure, but purchasing advertising does not guarantee any results for the contest. If you are interested in getting your business’s info on the ballot, email us at [email protected] 

7. What if there isn't a category that is applicable to me or my business 

After our inaugural awards, we added and changed some categories based on the community’s feedback! Unfortunately, once nominations have begun, we cannot add any additional categories.  We did our best to consider the impact of these changes, but we’d like to hear from you if you have comments or suggestions for the 2023 ballot. 8. Do advertisers automatically win? 

No! Williamson’s Best Readers’ Choice awards results are based on our reader voting. Some winners may be advertisers or later choose to advertise, but being an advertiser absolutely does not guarantee a win.  

9. How can I promote my business to get votes?

10. Where is the “submit” button? How do I know my nominations or votes counted?  

During the nominations phase, before you submit your first nomination you’ll be asked to sign up for the ballot (this is how we keep spammers/bots from flooding the ballot). After you’ve signed up, you can submit your nomination and then your login will be saved, and you can keep on nominating in several categories.   

During the voting phase, you’ll likely be asked to log-in again, and once you click the “VOTE” button on a category, your choice is recorded. No further action is needed.  

There is not a final SUBMIT button on either the nominations phase or voting phase, it automatically records your choices and submits them as they’re entered. You can go back and change your nomination or vote until the phase is over.  

11. I’m having trouble registering. What do I do?  

When you submit a nomination in the first category of your choice, you will be asked to fill out the required registration form. When you complete this step, you will be registered and you can continue filling out your ballot.  

If you have trouble with that process, we would suggest trying a different browser or device.  

12. I don’t have time to fill out the whole ballot right now. Can I come back later and do more?  

Sure! As long as you’ve already registered, you’re logged in on the same device and it’s before the deadline, you can pick up where you left off. When you return to the ballot on the same device, you should be automatically logged in and able to see your previous selections.

13. Why do I have to make an account?  

Our ballot software requires that users create an account to track your selections. This helps us guard against fraudulent voting and allows you to revisit your ballot before deadline to make changes and cast votes in other categories. Don’t worry — there’s no password needed.   

14. How do I find out who the winners are?  

Winners will be announced in our annual Home Page Guide to Williamson's Best magazine, released April 21, 2022.
