Myles Lake Dawson
Myles Lake Dawson, son of Lake and Lori Dawson, is this week’s Athlete of the Week.
He is a senior at Ravenwood High School and a member of the Varsity Football Team. He plays the positions of defensive end and outside linebacker. This season, he has had eight sacks, 35 tackles and 11 tackles for loss. He is the leading player in sacks in Middle Tennessee.
As he trains and competes, Dawson said that he thinks of his grandfather to keep him motivated. “My grandfather, who can’t walk, really pushes me to always do more, say my prayers, and compete at my best.”
One of his biggest role models is Aaron Donald, who plays for the Los Angeles Rams. He said he looks up to him because of his agility and strength. “I try to play like him every day,” he said.
RHS Football Coach Matt Daniels said of Dawson, “[He] has had a great start to the year fighting through some nagging injuries to lead the team in sacks with 7.5 and tackles for lass with 11.5. He had already earned the distinction of practice captain once this year for his leadership and dedication during a given week of practice and is working hard to earn more college football opportunities. Myles is a great teammate and student as well.”
When he’s not on the field, he enjoys lifting weights and spending time with his family.
After graduating from RHS, he plans to play football at an Ivy League college.
