Williamson County Schools announced Thursday afternoon that district schools will be closed Friday due to illness.
Twelve-month employees should follow the snow day protocol. The School Aged Child Care program will operate at snow day sites.
In a social media post, District 10 School Board Member Eric Welch said that on Thursday total student attendance was at 93 percent with three schools reporting less than 90 percent of students coming to school.
Welch wrote that almost 400 teacher and teaching assistants were out Thursday — and about 130 of those absences were not covered by a substitute.
"Weather is a possible problem tomorrow, with bridges and overpasses possibly freezing overnight," Welch wrote. "However, our ability to adequately staff is the main driver in our needing to close district schools tomorrow."
