Real estate research site Movoto recently ranked Brentwood seventh on its list of richest small cities in America.

Movoto compiled a list of 950 towns with populations between 30,000 and 80,000 people, and then placed rankings based on median household income and median home value based on 2010 statistics.

Brentwood, with a population of 37,060, showed a median household income of $133,304 and a median home value of $489,700.

Brentwood by the numbers:

  • Plastic Surgeons rating – 7
  • Private Airport Distance rating – 9
  • Really Expensive Clothing rating – 11
  • Really Expensive Fine Dining rating – 11
  • Really Expensive Jewelry Stores rating – 11
  • Country Clubs rating – 14

For the top 25 places, Movoto then considered an additional nine categories that the site felt are the main characteristics of an affluent community, and were given a rating of one to 25, one being the highest.

With the recent addition of Tesla, Mini, Audi, Porsche and Jaguar dealerships, Brentwood ranked first for luxury car dealers, with one dealership for every 6,176 people.

Brentwood also ranked high for access to polo fields, scoring a three. There are several polo fields on land trusts in Franklin as well as private property.

With Brentwood being landlocked, it’s no surprise the city received a low score of 20 for distance to the nearest yacht club. Aside from a few clubs on Percy Priest Lake, there is not much opportunity for boating in the area.

Six out of the top 11 cities were located in California. However, Bethesda, Md., was ranked as the No. 1 richest small city in the country.
