A Shelbyville construction worker was killed late Tuesday morning in the Windstone subdivision when the forklift he was operating overturned and pinned him underneath, Brentwood police said.

Greg Rigney, 45, an employee of Sequatchie Concrete, was offloading a delivery to a construction site on Windstone Boulevard when the forklift turned on over on its side.

“For unknown reasons the forklift turned over onto its side, pinning the victim underneath the vehicle,” Asst. Police Chief Tommy Walsh said.

“At approximately 11:09 a.m. this morning we responded to the Windstone subdivision off of Murray Lane to investigate a construction accident. Responders discovered an adult male victim trapped underneath a large forklift type vehicle.”

Walsh said Rigney was pronounced deceased at the scene.
