Brentwood Jewelry and Gifts is not closing, despite signs on the front of the Church Street East store that have some customers thinking otherwise.

The signs advertising a “must go sale” had some passers-by concerned the longtime Brentwood jewelry store was closing its doors.

However, Brian Emamalie, whose father owns the business, said the sign advertises an inventory reduction sale.

“After 47 years, you accumulate so much stuff,” he said. “We have so much we don’t know where to put it. We’ve never had a sale this large in our existence, but we have new inventory and have nowhere to put it.”

Emamalie said the wording of the signs will be changed to avoid any further confusion.
