Tommy Pitts, son of Paige and Dan Pitts, is a senior at Brentwood Academy and this week’s Student of the Week.
He is a member of National Honor Society and has a 4.44 GPA. He scored a 5 on the AP World History Exam and a 4 on the AP Physics exam.
Pitts said one of his biggest passions is discovering how things work. “If one can find out why something works, they can use that knowledge to create helpful things,” he said.
His top role models are his parents, Paige and Dan. “They are never quick to anger,” he said. “They are very wise and hold my academics as important, but most of all, they give spiritual life high importance.”
His favorite class at BA is Physics with Mrs. Stalling. He said that every student really values the class and he loves that they get to solve “real world” problems. He said one of his favorite parts is that the class prompts him to ask his favorite question: “Why?”
When asked to list a few words to describe himself he said, “Analytical… caring. I think through everything and look at all the angles. I always try to make others feel better.”
When he’s not in school, Pitts enjoys playing golf and soccer.
After graduating, he said he hopes to “change the world in some way for the betterment of all” with science.
