Sam Hammon, son of Kim and Nathan Hammon, is this week’s Athlete of the Week.
He is a sophomore at Fairview High School and a member of the Varsity Football Team. He plays the positions of center and defensive tackle.
Hammon started playing football when he was eight years old after encouragement from friends. When asked what inspires him to continue training and competing he said, “The main thing that inspires me to play is I want to play at the next level and to do that you have to work hard.”
Hammon always tries to be a good role model for his teammates. He said, “If I do things the way they are supposed to be done on and off the field I feel like the rest of the team will follow at some time.”
He describes himself as laid back, talkative and friendly. When he’s not on the field, he enjoys hunting, fishing, riding horses and wrestling.
After graduating in a couple of years, he hopes to continue his football career in college.
