STAFF REPORTS

The Franklin Special School District Child Nutrition Department has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Winston Foodservice to be used to purchase kitchen equipment for the schools. A surprise presentation was made to FSSD Child Nutrition Supervisor Robbin Cross at one of the FSSD schools.

“Everyone in the Child Nutrition department is so excited to be receiving 10 new pieces of equipment,” Cross said. “Our order has been placed for four of the Winston Retherm Ovens, three holding cabinets and four pass-through warming units.”

Using a retherm oven, cafeteria staff can cook food ahead of time, then chill or freeze it until it’s needed. The oven reheats it quickly for large mass consumption.

“It was such a wonderful surprise and we are appreciative of Winston for this grant for their continued support of Child Nutrition programs across the country,” Cross said.
