Xavier Anderson, son of Crystal and Justin Anderson, is a sophomore at Franklin High School and this week’s Student of the Week.

He is a member of the Honors Program at FHS and a member of the basketball team. He said basketball is one of his biggest passions. “It has taught me character as well as the art of competition,” he said. “It’s also taught me time management, with balancing school and practice.”

Anderson said one of his top role models is business magnate Bill Gates. “I admire his critical thinking skills and generosity to the world around him,” he said.

His favorite class at FHS  this year is English with Mrs. Brannon. In addition, he said his biggest influence at FHS has been one of his eighth grade teachers, Mrs. Haynes. He said, “Her encouragement and commitment to my learning is a big reason for my success today.”

Brannon said of Anderson, “Since day one, he has impressed me with his outstanding character; he continuously makes sure everyone in the class feels welcomed and included, especially with one student in particular that is a little older than everyone else and doesn’t have many friends in the class. He is also a hard-working student that adds so much to the class with his insightful comments. I am so grateful to have him in my class this year.”

Outside of the classroom, Anderson enjoys spending time with friends, working on basketball and lifting weights.

After graduating from FHS, he hopes to pursue a career as a music producer.
