The Brentwood Bruins volleyball team swept the Ravenwood Raptors 3-0 on the road Tuesday night in the season’s second Battle of the Woods (25-9, 25-17, 25-18).

“I think they remember how hard the match was when we played five sets, and they knew they had to be ready,” said Brentwood head coach Barbara Campbell. “Ravenwood is a very good team, and we don’t take a three-game sweep for granted at all. We know we will see them again.”

“There was a lack of mental toughness on our part,” said Ravenwood head coach Abbey West.

In the first set, Brentwood was firing on all cylinders, executing kills and aces. The Bruins played stout defense holding Ravenwood to nine points for a 25-9 victory.

Ravenwood put up a good fight in the second set, but Brentwood continued to capitalize on timely kills and blocks to win 25-17.

The third set was nerve-racking, with each side being able to match the other point for point. Brentwood separated late, capturing 50/50 balls and collecting valuable aces to close out the match 25-18.

With this win, Brentwood moves to 40-3 on the year and remain undefeated in district play.

“This team works hard and has set high expectations,” said Campbell. “They don’t want our success as a program to end with them. I am very fortunate they have that desire in their heart.”

Brentwood will take on Siegel at home Wednesday night.

“I hope we come out ready to play,” said Campbell. “You need to play your best when you play Siegel because they are good.”

Ravenwood will take on Centennial Wednesday night on the road.

“I am hoping that we can bounce back and get back into our groove,” said West.
