The Page Patriots hosted the Nolensville Lady Knights in this Division I Class AA, Region 6, District 11 match-up. Page entered the contest 6-5-2 overall record, and 2-1-1 in district action.

Nolensville came into the contest 11-1-1 overall, and a district record of 7-0.

Both teams played extremely hard the entire 80 minutes to win. The hard fought contest wound up a 1-1 tie.

Both teams showed amazing energy to start the game. At 23:41 Bailey Farr scored the game’s first goal, giving Nolensville the early 1-0 lead.

But Page bounced back quickly. At 15:51 Kate Brzica gave the assist to her sister Maddie Brzica, who kicked the game-tying goal from 25 feet.

In the last 10 minutes of the half Page made a massive lineup change to raise the energy level and finish the half strong and seize momentum and pace of the contest.

The plan worked. Though Nolensville was controlling most of the first half pace. Page neutralized that advantage going into the half by stealing balls, and out-hustling Nolensville in the closing minutes of the half.

Early in the second half the energy level from birth teams increased. As soon as either team set up their offensive plays the other hustled to cover the open lanes prevent clear shots on goal.

And even though both squads attempted to seize control in the half. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Nolensville head coach Eric Shelton gave his thoughts on the contest.

“This is what we expected when we play Page,” he said. “They’re hunting for some points to finish high in the district, and we wanted to stay undefeated. So I guess we both got what we wanted.

“A physical game is what we got, and I’m really proud of the way we played. I think we’re playing attractive soccer. I think our chemistry is great. Chances were few and far between.”

Page head coach Nathan Clapp stated that it was a competitive contest.

“Both teams really got out there,” he said. “It was a test for us to play a competitive game and stay in it.”

Page plays at Central High School next Tuesday while Nolensville Hosts Stewart Creek next Thursday.
