The Nolensville Police Department announced on its Facebook page that the department has been awarded a $43,7020 grant by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
According to the post, the funds will be used on equipment and overtime pay for officers to work more hours for traffic enforcement.
The grant contract is expected to be approved at the next Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting on Oct. 3.
The grant period runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2020, and will enable the NPD to upgrade and replace aging equipment along with increasing traffic enforcement efforts.
The department will also report back to THSO each calendar quarter regarding purchases and overtime pay to make sure that the grant money is used appropriately as well as participating in two audits each year.
