If you didn’t get your fill of horses during May’s Kentucky Derby and Iroquois Steeplechase, you’re in luck because there are even more equestrian events the first weekend of June. From a polo match to an Olympic-style equestrian jumping competition, there’s something for everyone.
“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”
Where: Jamison Theater, The Factory at Franklin
When: Performing through June 2
This biblical tale of Joseph and his coat of many colors is closing the ninth season for Studio Tenn, with performances daily at 7 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on June 1-2. Visit the websitefor more information and tickets.
Movie in the Park
Where: Pinkerton Park, Franklin
When: Friday, 8-10 p.m.
The weather should be just right for the showing of Ralph Breaks the Internet, a 2018 3D computer-animated Disney movie that’s the sequel to the 2012 film Wreck-It Ralph.So get the kids away from the internet and head over to Pinkerton Park!
Franklin Book Festival
Where: Williamson County Public Library, Franklin
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
Nearly 50 authors are scheduled to appear and participate in the Authors Circle Franklin Book Festival, and whether you’re a reader or a writer or a would-be writer, you’re encouraged to attend and meet the authors and sit in on the 12 scheduled panels over the two days. Of course, you’re also welcome to purchase any of the books for sale.
Music City Grand Prix
Where: Brownland Farm, Franklin
When: Gates open 2:30 p.m.
This is the 31st annual Music City Grand Prix presented by Tractor Supply Company at this equestrian center wrapped by the Harpeth River between downtown Franklin and Fieldstone Farms. The event is Middle Tennessee’s premier Olympic-style equestrian jumping competition. All proceeds benefit Saddle Up!, a locally based nonprofit that offers therapeutic horseback riding programs for disabled young people.
Twilight Polo Match
Where: Park at Harlinsdale Farm
When: Saturday, 5:30 p.m.
USA takes on Mexico at the Hap & Harry’s Beer International Polo Cup at Harlinsdale Farm. At this kid-friendly event, you’ll find concessions, music, halftime challenges, kid activities and more!
