The Heritage at Brentwood marked the completion of the final phase of development with a grand opening celebration on Thursday.

According to a news release, around 300 people gathered to celebrate and toast the completion of The Heritage at Brentwood’s original master plan.

Heritage residents, members of its leadership team, local business and civic leaders and Life Care Services, LLC senior management were treated to a champagne brunch celebration and tours of the senior living community’s new amenities including a new fitness room and day spa.

Life Care Services, LLC is the community’s Des Moines, IA.-based management company with John Stone representing the community’s local ownership group.

The Heritage Glee Club’s Women’s Ensemble performed “Bless this House” in Poplar Hall, the community’s new auditorium.

Executive Director Jon Tagatz acknowledged the patience of of everyone involved in the project that was delayed in part by the 2008 recession.

Tagatz says that they began taking deposits for the 97-unit apartment building in 2008 and the first Redbud residents began moving in in late May of this year.

In the interim, The Heritage added a limited number of new villas and 30 new rooms to its 5-Star-rated Somerfield Health Center. The groundbreaking for its final, and most anticipated, phase took place in October 2017.

“We finally fulfilled our promise. In my opinion, we exceeded expectations and it turned out better than we thought it would be,” Tagatz said.

Community Life Director Ashlie Burnett said that the new Healthy Living Center offers a dedicated area for fitness classes that were previously held in the clubhouse parlor or at the local YMCA.

The Healthy Living Center’s group fitness classroom is outfitted with a the state-of-the-art weight room, a heated indoor pool and the new day spa has added massages and light facials to its menu of services.

“The new amenities allow us to finally be able to truly provide everything residents want. Now we have the real deal,” Burnett said. “The residents are thrilled. They’ve waited for these things. We’ve really seen an increase in participation.”

In addition to the Healthy Life Center and Poplar Hall, the multi-use auditorium, the final phase added the Fireside Grille — a full-service, casual dining restaurant complete with full bar service.

Redbud, the Heritage’s final residential addition, includes 97 spacious one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, all with reserved underground parking, patios or balconies.

Eleven one-bedroom assisted living apartments were also added as well as new landscaped courtyards and outside dining, gathering and recreational venues.

Verna Canto and her late husband Jim moved into a Heritage Villa in May 2007 and is now the community’s longest-tenured resident.

Canto celebrated her second grand opening Thursday saying that she is happy to see the construction end and enjoys the new amenities, especially the Healthy Life Center.

“I work out five days a week, twice in the pool,” Canto said.

The Heritage at Brentwood offers independent living, assisted living and skilled health care.

As a LifeCare community, residents “buy in” to their choice of independent living apartments and villas. Residents have convenient access to long-term, on-site health care, if needed, with no significant additional cost beyond their monthly fee.

Upon departure, up to 90% of the entrance payment “buy in” is returned to the resident or their estate.

Once Redbud is fully occupied, approximately 450 active senior adults will call The Heritage home.

Services and amenities include restaurant-style dining (in addition to full kitchens in all apartments and villas), weekly housekeeping, all utilities, Wi-Fi and basic cable TV service, scheduled and on-demand transportation, 24-hour security, underground parking or garages, walking and biking trails, an on-site Williamson Medical Group clinic, emergency call system and more.

The Heritage at Brentwood is located at 900 Heritage Way, just east of I-65 and is within walking distance of the Brentwood Library, Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex, Fifty-Forward Martin Center and Tower Park.
