Brentwood Officer Brien Fletcher was in surgery Thursday afternoon after he was injured late Wednesday when he was struck by a car as police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle at the Fountainhead subdivision.

Fletcher was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Assistant Police Chief Tommy Walsh said Fletcher is expected to make a full recovery.

The vehicle, earlier reported stolen in Nolensville, fled the scene and had not been located as of Thursday afternoon. It is described as a 2017 Honda CRV with a Tennessee license plate number FW8348.

Brentwood Police reported that they were called to the area of Fountainhead Drive after a resident reported seeing a suspicious vehicle and suspects. While officers were conducting a search of the area they encountered a black Honda CRV which immediately fled at a high rate of speed. Additional officers set up tire deflation devices in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle at the intersection of Fountainhead Drive and Franklin Road.

The driver of the CRV attempted to avoid striking the devices and in doing so struck a Brentwood Police vehicle which was parked and unoccupied. The police car in turn struck Fletcher, who was on foot nearby.

Police described the suspects only as two black males.

Walsh released dash camera video from one of the pursuing police cars:
