Skinner-Frances

Frances “Fran” Skinner died peacefully on April 30, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 85.

Fran was born on July 22, 1933 in Bronx, New York to Thomas and Teresa McDermott.  She is survived by her husband Bill Skinner and children Jim (Monica) Tuohy, Cathy (Charlie) Cassidy, Fran Miller, Peg (Walt) Houk, Diane (Kevin) Bickel, Jane (Michael) Ravey, Bill Skinner and 19 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband John Tuohy, daughter Maryann Tuohy Murphy and son Tom Tuohy.

Fran is remembered as being feisty, fierce, and friendly, but mostly for being so proud and adoring of her children.  She was an avid reader and member of several book clubs.  Fran was a competitive bridge player with her husband Bill. She shared her love of bridge by establishing the Youth Bridge Program at Vanderbilt Bridge Club and promoting after school bridge programs in the Nashville Public Schools.

A funeral mass is scheduled for May 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Henry Church, 6401 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205, with a reception to follow. Father Mark Beckman will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Fran’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alive Hospice www.alivehospice.org/donate or Vanderbilt Bridge Club, 85 White Bridge Rd, Nashville, TN 37205 in memory of Frances Skinner.
