Audrey Cox, daughter of Kara and David Cox, is a senior at Fairview High School and a member of the varsity girls basketball team.
She plays the positions of power forward and center.
This season, she has had 254 rebounds, blocked 68 shots and totaled 311 points. She has a career total of 772 points.
Cox got her start in the sport at the age of nine when her mother enrolled her in junior pro.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said that her mother’s encouragement and the goal of going to college keep her motivated.
It comes as no surprise that her mother, Kara, is her biggest role model and inspiration.
“She pushes me to be better and she played D1 basketball,” she said.
FHS girls basketball coach said of Cox:
Audrey has played an integral role in the success the girls’ basketball program has experienced so far this season. Audrey is the only senior on the team and has done a commendable job stepping into a leadership role. [She] truly loves the game of basketball and this is evident on the court, both during practice and games. She pushes her teammates to work hard and leads by example. Audrey has risen as one of the top rebounders in Middle Tennessee.
After graduating from FHS this spring, she plans to attend college where she will continue playing basketball and purse a pre-dental major.
