In preparation for the 2020 census, the United States Census Bureau is seeking to fill thousands of part-time positions across the country, with over 150 of those in Williamson County alone. Jobs start at $17 an hour, and offer compensation for traveling expenses.

The majority of positions the Census Bureau is looking to fill would be for enumerators, also known as census takers. Census takers typically work in their respective communities interviewing residents who have not responded to the Bureau’s questionnaires, updating addresses, and organization data.

Positions with the Census Bureau start at $17 an hour as previously mentioned, have the ability for workers to choose their own hours in both the amount and the days, offer the chance for workers to work from home, offer paid training, and offer .58 cents per mile for traveling expenses.

Requirements for the positions require all applicants to be at least 18 years-old, pass a census-performed criminal background check, be registered with the Selective Service System or have a qualifying exemption, and be available to work flexible hours.

Census Bureau staff have previously stressed the importance of having as many participants in the 2020 census as possible, as for every resident counted within Williamson County, the county government receives $2,000 from the federal government.
