South 40 Farm is opening its property to creative people for “a sunset golden hour photography opportunity” from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, according to a release.
Located at 1764 Lewisburg Pike, just south of I-840 in Franklin, the 40-acre farm is used as a location for photo and video shoots. But for one short afternoon, the property, its sets and its natural beauty, will be open to anyone who wants to come mingle with fellow creatives or take advantage of a spectacular shoot location at sunset, the release says.
“Having been a photographer the bulk of my career, I understand the importance of great relationships with other creatives,” South 40 owner Ann Thoni said in a release “I’ve never seen other photographers or videographers as competition, but more as family and family should get together once in a while and catch up.”
That’s why she and her husband Jeff decided to open up their family farm as a home for any and all creatives to use for shoots.
“We want our land to not only be used as a backdrop for everything from music videos and documentaries to family Christmas card photos,” she said. “But we also want our land to be a melting pot for creatives of all types to come together and share ideas and foster a community.”
The “Golden Hour” event will have food from Charcoal Cowboys (www.charcoalcowboysbbq.com) as well as wine and other non-alcoholic beverages.
More on the event:
Multiple barns will be open for attendees to just peruse or use for a shoot that night. Creatives are encouraged to bring photography subjects and scan the farm for the perfect setting for photos. There will also be several antique cars as well as multiple backdrops to choose from.
Attendees are welcome to roll in with their family, friends and furry friends. Bring your fancy Nikon DSLR and bag of lenses; or pop in with your iPhone. The event is open to everyone of all skill levels who want to shoot great photos — or learn to shoot great photos.
Restrooms will be available and there is plenty of free, on-site parking. Admission to the event is $50 per photographer/creative. This event is meant to offer an afternoon chock full of beautiful shooting opportunities as well as a straight-up fun hang with some like-minded folks.
You might learn a thing or two, you might take some beautiful pictures and you will definitely leave with some new friends.
