The Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park announced several family-friendly events for its September lineup via a press release.
Kellye Cash & Family in Concert
Saturday, Sept., 7 p.m.
Join us for a delightful musical evening filled with some of the finest country songs ever written. A former Miss America and the great-niece of none other than country music legend Johnny Cash, Kellye has played to sold-out audiences throughout the Southeastern United States. Backed by her five-piece band, The West Tennessee Strangers, the evening will feature classic country songs by Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette, as well as a mix of her most loved original songs. This is a one-night special event not to be missed! Tickets are $20-$25.
Johnny Rogers in Buddy and Beyond: The History of Rock and Roll
Saturday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m.
From Jackson, Tenn., Rock ‘n’ Roll showman Johnny Rogers is in the business of bringing yesteryear’s music and history of Rock ‘n’ Roll to life. An outstanding musician who has played across the globe, Johnny’s uncanny portrayal of the late Buddy Holly and tribute’s to the legendary Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ricky Nelson, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley with full band will have audiences screaming for more. Tickets are $20-$25.
The Nashville Shakespeare Festival Presents The Tempest
Thursday-Sunday, Sept. 26-29, 7 p.m.
For the fourth year in a row, the Nashville Shakespeare Festival will bring one of Shakespeare’s plays to Williamson County. With a cast of 24 actors directed by NSF Artistic Director Denice Hicks, The Tempest, is one of Shakespeare’s most romantic plays. Set on an enchanted island ruled by the wizard Prospero and inhabited by spirits, The Tempest is a magical play about love, betrayal and forgiveness that will delight the whole family.
For The Tempest, gates to multi-purpose field open at 5 p.m. Food trucks and pre-show music starts at 6 p.m. Performance begins at 7 p.m. Free Admission. Donations suggested. The festival is family-and-dog friendly. Bring your chairs or blankets.
