On Nov. 6, two days before the 2016 Presidential election, Christ Presbyterian Church will host a discussion with Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Michael Wear, consultant and former Obama White House and campaign staffer, and Christ Presbyterian Senior Pastor Scott Sauls.

The church is in Nashville, just west of Brentwood, at 2323 Old Hickory Blvd.

Emmy-winning news journalist and WKRN co-anchor Samantha Fisher will moderate the panel.

This Forum will explore questions such as:

  • Can a “Christian right” and a “Christian left” both exist?
  • What does the Bible say about our political engagement?
  • Is it possible to have deep disagreement over politics and genuine love–both at the same time?

Haslam, former mayor of his native Knoxville, was elected governor in 2010 and reelected in 2014. He and his wife Crissy have been married for 34 years and have three children and four grandchildren.

Michael Wear is the founder of Public Square Strategies LLC. During President Obama’s first term, he led evangelical outreach and helped manage The White House’s engagement on religious and values issues,

including adoption and anti-human trafficking efforts .Wear writes for newspapers and magazines and is the author of the forthcoming book Reclaiming Hope: Lessons Learned in the Obama White House About the Future of Faith in America. Wear and his wife, Melissa reside in Washington, D.C.

Scott Sauls serves as senior pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, a multi-site church in Nashville. He has been married to Patti for 20 years, they have two

daughters. Prior to Nashville, Sauls was a lead and preaching pastor at New York City’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church, planted churches in Kansas City and St. Louis, and taught homiletics (preaching) at Covenant Theological Seminary. Sauls has released two books: Jesus Outside the Lines: A Way Forward for Those Who Are Tired of Taking Sides and BeFriend: Create Belonging in an Age of Judgment, Isolation and Fear.  Sauls also writes weekly on his blog at scottsauls.com.
