Centennial High Choral Director Dr. Johnathan Vest is one of only four Tennessee teachers to be selected as a Grammy Music Educator Award quarterfinalist.

The award recognizes educators who have made lasting contributions to the field of music. More than 3,000 initial nominations from around the country were submitted, and only 189 teachers were selected as quarterfinalists.

“I am thrilled to be selected as a quarterfinalist for the Music Educator of the Year Grammy Award,” Vest said. “To be named among this esteemed group of educators is a true honor. Creating music with students has always been my passion, and I’m happy to be recognized for that by the Academy.”

The list of quarterfinalists will be narrowed down to 15 semifinalists in September. From those semifinalists, 10 finalists will be chosen and then one overall winner.
