Christ Presbyterian Academy football standout Kane Patterson is on the market again.

The prized recruit decommitted from Ohio State amid uncertainty surrounding coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeye program. The news was originally reported Friday by 104.5 The Zone host Brent Dougherty, who also serves as the Lions’ play-by-play announcer.

Patterson rushed for two touchdowns in CPA’s 38-22 victory over Ensworth. Following the game, he confirmed to the Home Page that his recruitment is open after he became uncomfortable with the ongoing controversy at Ohio State.

“What was going on with Ohio State for a little bit [played a role in the decision]…Coach Meyer was a huge part for me,” Patterson said. “So, I just kind of need to take a step back and reevaluate some things.”

Meyer has come under fire in recent weeks following his handling of former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith, whom Meyer kept on his staff despite Smith’s alleged history of domestic violence.

Patterson acknowledged that Clemson is among his top choices. The Tigers offered Patterson a scholarship on Aug. 5, while he was still committed to Ohio State but after the domestic violence allegations involving Smith were made public.

However, the four-star recruit (according to 247Sports) said he will consider his options and isn’t in a hurry to make a final decision.

“I’m going to consider everything,” Patterson said. “I’m just going to focus on the season and when it comes, it comes.”

Ohio State fired  Smith on July 23 and suspended Meyer for three games after completing an internal investigation of the situation for his handling of the situation.
