Centennial running back Deon Sanders is the Franklin Home Page / Newk’s Player of the Week after rushing for 326 yards and 4 TDs.

Sanders, a junior, ground out a single-game rushing record for a back against the Brentwood defense. The 31-20 win was the Cougars’ first victory over the Bruins in the 17-year history of the series,

The 6-foot, 210-pounder put his team on his back with 43 carries, which included a 62-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for a 28-20 lead. He also rushed for TDs of 1 and 14 yards.

Sanders is also a standout baseball player for Centennial.

Zach Orange, Franklin LB: Defender made a big special-teams play, blocking a punt that led to Carson Young’s scoop and score in 16-14 win at Dickson County.

Corey Fatony, Franklin K-P: Pinned Dickson County twice at the 1 in the third quarter including a 60-yard punt and also nailed a 47-yard field goal.

RaShaan Gaulden, Independence DB/WR: Senior scored on a pick-6 for a 14-0 lead, then caught a TD reception on the next offensive possession in the Eagles’ 56-7 win over Summit.

Vic Wharton III, Independence DB/WR: Last week’s Newk’s Player of the Week had 3 TDs this week including one on a 70-yard punt return and TDs on both his receptions.

Drake Dormann, Independence K/P: Dormann is perfect on PAT kicks this season including 7 of 7 on Friday, plus hit most of his kickoffs into the end zone.

Tucker Beathard, BGA QB: Ran for 3 TDs on 11 carries and passed for another 164 yards in 35-14 victory over Goodpasture.

Zak Mizell, Page QB: Senior had another big night despite a loss, throwing for 304 yards and a TD on 28 of 39 passing.
