Independence quarterback Adam Swayze is the Newk’s Player of the Week after he scored four touchdowns in Friday’s 35-14 win over Lincoln County.

Swayze, who was playing in relief of starting quarterback Andrew Bunch, opened the game with a screen pass to Nate Johnson, who then took the ball 80 yards for a touchdown.

Swayze later scored on runs of six and seven yards in the third quarter to extend Indy’s lead to 20-14.

His final touchdown of the night was an 89-yard pass to Johnson in the fourth quarter. He then ran in a two-point conversion to set the score at 28-14.

He finished the night with 221 passing yards, 130 rushing yards and one interception.

Indy (3-0, 1-0) hosts Smyrna (3-0, 1-0) Friday.
